"Are you here to stay?"
(referring to anyone who is being a critic of their music)
"Why should I ask?"
(meaning "of course you’re here to stay" as a group gains more attention by fans, so does it by critics and there always seems to be someone who wants to try to bring others down)
"The water is warm my friend"
(Don’t just stand outside the pool and take a quick glance at it (the lyrics) and assume what the water (the meaning) is like inside. You may think it is cold and worldly, when in fact, it is quite warm and filled with God’s love)
"This one should last"
chorus:
"Landmarks that define"
(Landmarks meaning the lyrics, so this line could simply say "the definition of our lyrics")
"No loner align with the direction we’re headed"
(Because of the secular world’s interpretations, their lyrics are now thought to mean something different what they originally were written to mean. They no longer align with the direction Plankeye is heading, which is toward God.)
"It’s the consequence I fear when you label me like that"
(The band fears what their new fans (or even worse, their original fans) will think they are trying to say when the world labels their songs with the incorrect interpretations)
"I guess I wish you’d take some time with me"
(If people would only take a little time to actually sit and really listen to the lyrics they would find that they don’t mean what maybe it may seem at first. As some of us know, they have a lot of songs with deep and possibly confusing lyrics and it does take some time to examine them and understand them.)
"The words I spoke were clear"
(Their songs are obviously about God, even if we don’t know the exact meaning we do know that much.)
"Some people only hear what they want to hear to make them feel all right"
(but yet some people seem to find a way to twist their lyrics to where they aren’t even about God anymore. Many people don’t wanna hear about God and so they just seem to subconsciously erase all traces of Christianity from Plankeye’s songs)
(chorus)
"It’s the way you feel that keeps you from the truth"
(pretty much just stating what the last line in the last verse said: It’s because you don’t want to hear about God that keeps you from hearing the truth in the lyrics)
